Junior is a beautiful happy 15 year old boy whose smile lights up a person's soul. Junior was born with Down syndrome, and due to the severity of his condition, he cannot speak, and his communication is limited to what his body language tells his caretakers. Recently, doctors discovered that his right leg bone is separating from his hip bone, and he will need to have surgery to place the bone back.
His mom, Soveida, is a strong and inspiring single mom, who has been able to support Junior and his sister, by having two jobs. Once Junior undergoes surgery, his recovery will be long, and difficult. Soveida will have to take at least one month off of work to take care of Junior, but that means that she will not have an income to support her household expenses. We would like to raise $6000 to help Soveida stay home with Junior at least 2 months, and to have a little extra income to pay for a ramp for Junior's wheelchair while he recovers, and gas money for some of her back and forth traveling.
Junior's surgery is scheduled for late October of 2016, so we would like to raise the funds by October 15, 2016, so that Soveida will have the piece of mind that her household expenses are covered and she can focus on taking care of her kids.
As stated above, Soveida is one of the strongest women I know. She has played the role of mother and father since Junior was about 2 months old. She works very hard to support her family on her own, even picking up a second weekend job to help make ends meet. Soveida gives so much of herself to her beautiful kids, her friends, and her extended family. Those of us who know her, have been touched by her kindness and generosity multiple times. This fund gives us an opportunity to give back to a woman who never asks for anything for herself, and to help ensure that Junior has the best post-surgery care with the woman who loves him with the purest, most selfless love I have seen.
