Mikes Second Chance at Life

A recent trip to the hospital for my husband has drastically changed our lives forever. Mike was rushed to the Emergency Room where it was discovered he was suffering from sepsis, kidney failure, and lung failure, caused by a severe lung infection. During this three week stay in the hospital Mike also suffered a stroke, and left the with a new diagnosis of End Stage Renal Disease after. Watching my husband’s life depend on a machine to keep him alive was hard but I knew he was still there, a fighter, a friend, a mentor, and lover. After hearing Mike’s voice everyday for twelve years all I could think about was everything would be okay if he would just say anything! Mike is my miracle, and deserves the kindness that he has always shown to others. We are ever so grateful for the support we have received so far from family and friends, but Mike needs more help from his community. Mike has been the tireless provider and is lucky to have some help through his short term disability but that is only 60%. This is a big cut as Mike is the main provider for our family as I have a disability also and I am undergoing several preparations for spinal surgery in the coming year. Mike is now undergoing dialysis 3 times a week, and they are unsure when and if he will be able to return to work.

Mike is also going to need a kidney transplant. We desperately need any help to get Mike to his dialysis appointments, and to not lose the new house we had finally got in July. We are ever so grateful for your support.
