ATTENTION CAT LOVERS!!!
"Peanut is gone.
The same two dogs.
I don't know what to say.
He was loved by all of us and supported by you on this page.
His video as a stick thin undernourished sick kitten shocked many of you.
But he got better and stronger.
And now he's gone.
I failed to keep him safe."
-Sonia

CatSanctuary Goa is literally under attack by feral dogs who roam the village of Nachinola in Goa, India. They are KILLING our cats for sport...entertainment....because............." dogs will be dogs." They also kill for food. One of our kittens, Flower., was half eaten by these dogs.
This is a horrible situation to imagine. It s very difficult to talk about and even more painful to live with. .......and yet it is the daily reality for the residents of CatSanctuaryGoa and their human family who works so hard to care for them.
CatSanctuary Goa was founded a year ago by my friend Sonia Smart, a single mother, retired teacher and dedicated animal welfare activist and cat rescuer who returned to her home country of India as a refugee herself after surviving the earthquake that devastated Nepal on April 25, 2015. Before her family was even settled, Sonia began working to help the numerous abandoned kittens andstray/feral cats who populate the nearby Aldohna market where people frequently abandon unwanted animals assuming they'll at least be able to find food. Many do not survive and those who do, live difficult lives knowing little love or comfort.
One by one these little lost souls have become Sanctuary residents and members of Sonia's family, loved and doted on by everyone. All of Sonia's cats receive good medical care, are spayed and neutered and once they are in good health all attempts are made to find them loving Forever Homes. Until then, as Sonia says, they will always be at home with her.
Now their peaceful Sanctuary is being threatened on a daily basis by brutal attacks from feral street dogs who invade Sanctuary property at all hours of the day and night viciously attacking unsuspecting cats and kittens ripping them apart and savaging them. It breaks my heart to think and talk about, it is shocking to read. .......just imagine what it would be like if it were happening to you. Could you watch your dream of a peaceful Sanctuary for rescued cats be turned into a killing zone without doing everything possible to stop it? Sonia cannot. . .and neither can we!
I am relying on and appealing to all Cat Lovers........to everyone who has lost a beloved pet and family member and knows the pain of such a horrible loss, and to all of you can't even imagine something so horrifying happening to your feline friend. .PLEASE HELP CREATE A SAFE CATSANCTUARY GOA!!!
Any amount you can donate will make a huge difference. .ALL DONATIONS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO CATSANCTUARY GOA. . $5.00, $10.00, nothing is too small. We must raise $3000.00 to build a secure fence for the Sanctuary. .it's that simple. This new location at Olaulim will be rented on a long term basis and the houseowner has already given consent to improvements, including a high fence to keep cats secure and predators out. Screens can also be installed in windows to keep kittensand very young cats inside more easily.
In addition the new Sanctuary location offers a great deal more open space, which when secured, will make it possible for CatSanctuary Goa to welcome more stray cats as residents in a safer and much healthier environment...Feeona

UPDATE -An appeal for help to create a safe house for our cats.
We are seeking donations to build chainlink fencing all around this property to keep our cats safe within the grounds which are large enough to provide hours of entertainment, space and privacy to both cats and humans.
The house is an old renovated Goan house.
First the walls have to be strongly reinforced with cement and concrete.
The fence itself will consist of galvanized iron poles with small gauge chain link bolted to them....all 3 metres tall, bending inwards at the top and fixed to the existing boundary walls.
The estimated cost is $3000
I appeal to our supporters to each do mini fundraisers among family, friends and the community.
Together we can raise this money to keep our cats safe. The threat to our cats remains. I cannot emphasize enough the urgency of this appeal.
Thank you and bless you all
