Michael Lightfoot

On the afternoon of Wednesday September 7, 2016 our dear friend Michael Lightfoot was getting ready to leave for work. He has been having very painful headaches and today's headache was especially bad. His wife, Shannon, took his blood pressure and was shocked to find that it was 270/120! She wanted to take him to the ER but he collapsed so she called 911. He was rushed to UNM hospital and diagnosed with a severe hemorrhagic stroke, bleeding in the brain. He was moved to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit. Immediately they installed a shunt, basically a drain tube, to relieve the pressure on his brain from the bleeding. Doctor's are unsure of the extent of the damage to Michael's brain and other organs, especially his kidneys, lungs, and heart.
Michael and Shannon have been happily married for 19 years and have three beautiful children: Katie, Lauren, and Miles. Michael is the sole breadwinner and has been working hard at two jobs for years to keep his family going. The doctors will not predict the extent of Michael's recovery, or how long his recovery and rehab will take. Michael will be out of work for an extended period, at best, and Shannon will be caring for him and their three children.
As with many of us in these hard times, finances in the Lightfoot household have been very tight. Please find it in your heart to help this loving family in their time of need and ease their burden to some extent.
