All across the UK, music venues have been closing. Iconic places like Princess Charlotte, Duchess of York, The Cockpit, The Marquee have vanished from the map.
But musicians still need somewhere to play, and audiences still need somewhere to see those artists. The closure of our grassroots music venues is a cultural disgrace, but it’s also a disaster for our communities, ripping live music out of our towns and cities. Music is powerful; it brings people together, creates happiness.
Music Venue Trust is a registered charity which acts to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues in the UK. We have been fighting for nearly three years to stop these closures. We’ve achieved changes to the law, planning guidance, developments. We’ve fought back on behalf of venues to tackle the real reasons why they are closing down.
The single biggest cause of venue closures in the UK is the cost and complexity imposed on venues by planning, development, noise complaints and licensing. Today, Music Venue Trust is taking a decisive step to remove that threat. But we we need your help.
Music Venue Trust has assembled an Emergency Response Team which includes the UK’s leading experts on licensing, planning, acoustics, noise, legal and tenancy issues.
By filling in a simple online form here venues will be able to access the very best advice available. Music Venue Trust’s Emergency Response Team will respond within 72 hours with clear, practical advice. Initial advice from the service will be FREE to Grassroots Music Venues in the UK.
To raise funds to pay for the expert and legal advice that can stop these closures, we need your URGENT support.
We're staging #FIGHTBACK2017 - a concert at The Camden Electric Ballroom, London, on Tuesday 17 October. Tickets for that concert are available Here
