Ela's breast cancer treatment
Donation protected
Welcome!
My name is Kasia (Katarzyna) and I live in New York. I am from Poland and moved to USA about 3 years ago, where I met the love of my life - my husband Jonathan. We got married in September 2015 and were happy to have a lovely wedding in Vermont - we had guests from USA and Poland, including my beloved mom Ela.

Unfortunately, after a joyful event in September, in late October my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She is back in Poland and has been fighting the cancer bravely since then - she is during her second stage of chemotherapy. She also tested positive for Her 2, which means that the cancer cells are recreating in her body and she requiers an additional medicine. This medicine is the only one that can stop this process if it is given before and after the breast cancer surgery. The medicine is called Trastumab (Herceptyna) and is not refunded in Poland before surgery. It is very expensive and is given to her during her chemotherapy every 2-3 weeks. She has been using her savings and raising the money from friends and family-that covered most of her treatment, but unfortunately she is still missing a bit for the last few doses of the medicine.
The medicine is given to her in Wieliszew, which is close to Warsaw (capital of Poland), as the hospital in my hometown is not able to provide and distribute the medicine. That means, that my mom has to travel there for at least 2 hours each way every few weeks to recive Trastumab.
I am raising money for my mom, hoping to help her defeat the breast cancer - with this medicine, surgery and rehabilitation after she can be cancer free!
We need the funds as soon as possible - my mom and family were doing our best and trying to collect the money on our own on time, but without your help, we won't make it on time - she should take the medicine in 3 weeks again, but I do think we have a couple more weeks aftwr that for last dose. You probably will wonder why we didn't ask for help earlier - my mom was trying to keep it private and we were hoping that we could rise the money on our own, in the family.

The Gofundme website tells me, that I should tell why your help means so much to me and how thankful I will be. I can't even imagine how I can answer shortly for those questions. Ela is my mom and she is the best of the best. She raised me and my brother Gregory and has been nothing but a wonderful mother and friend. She and my dad had the most beautiful marriage and perfect family. My family went through a lot as 5 years ago, my father passed away due to a heart attack. We have been holding strong, although it is not easy.
I love my mom. I can't imagine my life without her and I can't imagine that some day in future, my kids would not meet their Grandmother. They won't meet my dad, but they could hear about him from Ela, my mom. Please help her, please help my family. Every penny counts, every donation is important and much appriciated.

Thank you for your support!
