“Mom, are we going to be more poor?” asked one of Luz’s daughters after finding out that her mom was not going to be able to go to work for 4 days. Luz, had been feeling some discomfort in her neck for days but that morning her pain was so severe that, as she was lying in bed crying and screaming, her daughters were ready to call 911. She decided to see her doctor that same day and he prescribed bedrest for the rest of the week. Already unsure how she was going to manage missing 4 days of work, things worsened. The next day the pain returned and it was even more intense. She was rushed to the emergency room. After receiving a CAT Scan they sent her to critical care where we later found out she had suffered a stroke. The 4 days of missing work turned into weeks, and now she had additional hospital bills to worry about.

Anyone who knows Luz will tell you that this mother of five is kind, giving and hardworking. You’ll never hear her speak bad about anyone, she does everything she can to help and care for loved ones (most recently her father who is suffering from kidney failure), and she takes pride in her work as a dedicated Food 4 Less employee for 16 years. Thankfully Luz is back home recovering but her bills await her.

We ask if you are able and willing to please donate what you can to help Luz and her family. The funds we are raising will help pay her medical expenses and costs of running her home (rent,utilities, food etc.). We know that this will greatly reduce the stress she is experiencing and speed up her recovery.

Al día siguiente el dolor regresó y fue más intenso. Fue llevada a la sala de emergencias. Después de recibir un CAT Scan, la enviaron a cuidados intensivos, donde después nos enteramos de que había sufrido un derrame cerebral. Los 4 días sin trabajar se convirtieron en semanas, y ahora adicionalmente tiene los cobros del hospital que pagar.

Cualquiera persona que conoce a Luz le diría que esta madre de cinco es cariñosa, amable, entregada y trabajadora. Nunca vas a escucharla hablar mal de nadie, ella hace todo lo posible para ayudar y cuidar a sus seres queridos (más recientemente a su padre que sufre de insuficiencia renal), y ella se enorgullece de su trabajo como empleada de Food 4 Less durante 16 años. Afortunadamente Luz está de nuevo en casa recuperándose. Pero sus cobros la esperan.

Les pedimos que donen lo que puedan si están dispuestos y capaces para ayudar a Luz y a sus hijos. Los fondos que estamos acaudalando ayudará a pagar sus gastos médicos y del hogar (renta, cobros, alimentos, Next
