William (Bill) Bolt, Certified Arborist and Horticulturist passed away August 7, 2016 after having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on June 23, 2016. Bill was admired and respected by his colleagues and numerous students for his vast knowledge of arboriculture and horticulture and his willingness to share that knowledge. He was genuine, very trustworthy, and his Christian values set a sterling example for us all.
Bill was an original member of the Springfield Tree Commission, a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Illinois Arborist Association, and the American Society of Consulting Arborists. He promoted those organizations by helping their membership grow in huge numbers.
Bill was a Vietnam Era veteran. He and his wife, Patty married at that time and for all those years he has been a devoted husband and father. Unfortunately, his life was cut short before he could provide for his wife’s and college age son’s future according to his plan. His death has left his family with modest income and a mortgage of about $65,000 on their home. Now they face the possibility of losing that home. Bill has devoted his whole life to helping others. His kindness and generosity deserve to be rewarded by the many lives he touched.
Please look into your heart and give generously to Bill’s legacy. It is fitting that we help his wife and son at a time when he cannot. If we all contribute toward the payment of that mortgage to ease Patty’s financial burden we will be able to say thanks to a man who gave us all so much.
