Geoff Howe Medical Fund
I am Geoff's Aunt Wanda. My nephew is going through a very rough time and is in dire need of funding. The family has done as much as they can financially and continue to morally support him but that is not enough. Let me tell you a little bit about Geoff. He is a loving and devoted single Dad of 2 children aged 10 and 11. Geoff has joint custody of these wonderful children. He dedicates his life to making a good life for them while they are with him 50% of the time. Geoff has cancer. While he works very hard as a journeyman electrician, every day he takes off in order to go for his treatments he does not get paid. The cost of going on a progressive 8 week treatment is about $30,000. Lost time at work over the course is almost $1,200 per week. While in treatment Geoff becomes very ill causing him to miss even more work. His meds cost him personally $1,000 (the part not covered). Geoff's oncologist determines that 2 eight week treatments may be enough to get him to remission. Most of his income goes to paying child support and keeping a roof over their heads as well as repaying loans he has already taken out to fund his initial treatments. Now he has been forced to sell the home that he has paid mortgage payments on by himself for several years but he doesn't get to reap the benefits of this sale. Now in two weeks he will be without a home for him and his children. Geoff has selflessly missed many of his cancer treatments in order to continue providing for his children and to keep up with his support payments but if he does not continue with his treatments the cancer will spread and the children will lose their Dad. We will lose a wonderful member of our family, far too soon. It is so difficult to put into words the tragic loss this would be. It is also very difficult to put into words this man's life in such a small space. It bears repeating that Geoff is a dedicated Dad who would give up anything for his children. If you could find it in your heart to help Geoff in any small way we would be so grateful. Geoff would be forever filled with gratitude for any help he is given. He would use the contributions to fund his cancer treatments and supplement the household income until he gets back on his feet, once the cancer is in remission. I used $50,000 as a goal because I didn't want to seem over reactive but if you do the math that isn't even enough to get him through his 2 x 8 week treatments. Thank you for your time, your heart and your thoughts.
