I am a brand new special eduction teacher in San Diego, CA setting up a brand new kindergarten classroom for students with extensive support needs. My school is a Title 1 school and I am desperately in need of materials for emerging learners with disabilities and especially those with autism spectrum disorder. My goal is to create an inclusive and effective environment with a structured layout, flexible seating, lots of visual supports, quiet and calm spaces for alleviating stress, accessible materials that are varied and engaging, multi-sensory learning, and personalized workstations. I am looking for manipulatives, sensory tools, early math and reading materials, games, toys, and lots of BOOKS, which I am sorely lacking! And I am especially looking for furniture and classroom infrastructure to create a welcoming environment where learning can happen and students are engaged.
