Max's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nicole and I am Max's mom. On Monday April 8th, 2024 at 9:30am myself and my 2 small dogs, Max and Lily, walked out our 2nd story apartment and down the stairs. At the base of the stairs a larger dog attacked Max. The dog had been in the dog park, jumped the fence, and came right for us.
Max sustained a lot of injuries to his neck and chest. Initailly there was concerns of lung damage. The first night he had to be put on oxygen due to breathing issues. On Tuesday things were looking up a little. A surgical consult showed no signs of lung puncture and he was breathing better. He was weaned off the oxygen and iv pain meds. I was told he could maybe go home the next day.
Today, Wednesday, I was told over night his blood pressure went down and blood sugar levels. He is in septic shock. He is still off oxygen but had to be put back on the iv fentanyl. He is still in critical condition. They are doing everything they can. It is possible he will need surgery tomorrow but hopes are things level out and he won't need to.
We paid the first $2500. The other dog owner has been active in paying the additional $9000 so far. I worry this won't continue.
If Max can pull through and can come home he will need daily visits to the vet for wound cleaning and bandage changes which will cost $150-$200 a day. I suspect I may need to make some adjustments at home for him to be comfortable. I have also missed work and am paying employees to take my shifts at my retail shop.
Any help is wonderful. Whether it be financial, sharing posts or even supporting my business Spot Colors
Funds and support will be used for any medical care for Max that isn't or wasn't covered by the owner of the dog that attacked him. God willing, he gets to come home, I will be nursing him back to health for a while. So funds will also help with the adjustments I have to make to be at home with him.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. I will update as things progress. Prayers and thoughts are also very much welcomed and appreciated.
