UPDATE:
Since Julie’s diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia in September, she has been through 2 aggressive chemotherapy treatments which required 30-day hospital stays each time. She has had 3 additional chemo regimes in the last 3 months. Through this journey, hundreds of people have registered on “Be the Match” for a bone marrow transplant. By the grace of God, a perfect match has been found. But this transplant can’t take place until Julie is in complete remission. She enters the hospital on Monday, March 19 to, once again, fight this monster called leukemia. She will have the strongest chemo available for 6 days and will remain in the hospital for a month. Our prayer is that she will go into remission and will be able to have the bone marrow transplant at that time.
Her husband, Jonathan, continues to be her prayer warrior, her faithful comforter, and constant encourager. Recently, he said “It is hard to watch the person you love keep getting knocked down but she gets back up swinging even harder each time.”
Julie is on indefinite leave from her teaching position at Effingham County High School. Jonathan’s pay is reduced as he takes time to care for her.
Julie and Jonathan are overwhelmed with the support they have received. The cards, gifts, prayers and words of encouragement have sustained them through this dark and unknown journey. We cannot cure Julie—God is the Great Physician—but we can PRAY, we can send cards and we can give financially as we feel led. The Go Fund Me account is to reduce the financial worries from this couple. Thank you for your love and support. #JulieStrong
