My brother, Brad Wimmer, was in Nashville, TN, for a friend's Bachelor party, when he was hit by a car while walking across the street early the morning of Sunday, July 24th. The driver of the car did not stop and the police have not found the driver. Beacuse the driver was not caught, Brad and Tracy will be responsible for medical expenses.
Brad was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was admitted into their Trauma Unit in critical condition. Brad's fiance' (Tracy Powers), parents (Dale and Laurie Wimmer), sisters (Jill Bigelow and Maddy Wimmer), brother-in-law (Matt Bigelow), fiances' parents (Randy and Linda Powers), fiances' brother (Ryan Powers), and friends (JJ and Dana Mathews) all rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center to be with Brad.
Brad suffers from several small brain bleeds, brain swelling, a broken jaw and nose; he was unconscious, but still responsive, and was put on a ventilator. Brad remained unconscious for 14 days. On Saturday, August 6th, Brad started to open his eyes and track noises. He is beginning to make purposeful movements, although he has not "fully" woken up yet. In the next few days, Brad will most likely be transfered from Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville to a rehab facility in Columbus, OH.
We are asking for continued prayers and financial support as Brad continues to recover; he has a long road ahead of him. While he will be "stable" when transported, we have no way of predicting in what "state" he will wake up in. Brad's recovery will be based upon what skills/functions he will need to recover, which could take months and/or years.
We are setting up the GoFund Me account in the hopes that we can relieve the burden of medical bills, as well as assist with Brad's transfer expenses that will occur with getting Brad from Nashville to Columbus. We all are trusting in God's plan and know that God is ultimately in control of all things. We can't thank you enough for your love and prayers throughout the last two weeks. We have felt them and appreciate them all!
