Jake's BIG Heart

Donation protected
Hey Friends, family, strangers...
The handsome young man in this photo is my great nephew. His name is Jake Kile and is a brilliant, hard working student 21 years young . Unfortunately, Jake has been hit hard with a heart condition.
On Sept. 2nd he went into the hospital with what was suspected to be atrial fibrillation (quivering heartbeat that can lead to blood clots, stroke or heart failure) with rapid ventricular rate due to suspect viral cardiomyopathy (serious viral infection). The cardiologist said this all happened from a virus that attacked his heart then his body attacked his heart to get rid of the virus. The new echo showed a 3-5% improvement of his cardiac output however it is still under 35% so he is getting a cardiac life vest to act as a safety in case of a lethal arrhythmia. His lungs are clearing finally! He has fluid and inflammation around his heart that they think is the causing the arrhythmia. He's on some strong anti-inflammatory meds to help that.
THE GOOD NEWS is that the docs finally allowed him to go home on Sept 14th! As long as he has committed to wearing a life vest that he will need to wear for about 3 months. It is a wearable defibrillator that will shock him if he goes into a lethal arrhythmia while he's home. He will continue meds and do cardiac rehab from home as he recovers.
His heart is still in A-flutter and he is still in heart failure with an ejection fraction of about 25% now (55-60% is normal) but he is stable enough with the vest. He will see a cardiologist once a week for a while to monitor his his progress. They said in about 45 days if his heart isn't in a normal rhythm, they will go in to take a biopsy of it and possibly put in a permanent defibrillator. Hopefully it goes back into a normal rhythm so that doesn't happen. He is a little nervous about being home and obviously a bit overwhelmed with the amount of meds and appts he has. He is reluctantly withdrawing from his first semester at ASU. He would be so behind and the stress of trying to get caught up and the physical strain getting around campus is too much. Resting for the next 3 months (expected recovery) is going to benefit him more than anything especially if he hopes to have no long term permanent damage. Lindsie Kielas (Jakes Mom and my neice) prayer request would be for something to work out for him financially since he can't work and won't have financial aid from school. He lives in his own apt so his bills are going to add up quick. They are praying God and the universe provides so Jake can just worry about healing, not finances (which we all stress about).  Lindsie is a full time nursing student, single Mom to Jakes little sister Camryn (13) and works a full time job. She is obviously very busy which is why I have started this GOFUNDME campaign for Jake.

All donations will be managed by Lindsie to help with Jake's living expenses. Rent, food, utilities, etc... Thankfully he has health insurance so he does not have to worry about his medical bills but not being able to work will take it's fianancial toll. Jake's living expenses run approx $1500 a month and his recovery is suspected to run 3-4 months.

The reasons I have organized this for them...

1) I LOVE THEM!
2) If it were me, I would hope for the same from my friends and family
3) I'm grateful to have healthy kids
4) We all could use a little help once in a while!
5) Because I can
6) Lindsie is a supehero Mom, works harder than any woman I know and I have unmeasured respect for her.

Thank you so very much for your thoughts, juju, prayers, donations, groceries, reading this and your time.

With love and gratitude,
