Alexa's Cancer Battle Fund

Our 32 year old cousin Alexa Zellers is battling stage 4 metastatic cancer of the head and neck. Alexa has been fighting cancer since she was 8 years old when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. She had to undergo 26 months of Chemotherapy and was cancer free until she relapsed at age 16. She endured more chemo only to have her leukemia return after her freshman year of college. She left school for more chemo, radiation and a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Alexa has endured more than anyone should ever have to deal with yet she continues to fight for a life that she so richly deserves. She and her husband Ben Roth had recently made the move to Florida for Alexa's health. Alexa had to have both hips replaced because of the drugs from earlier treatments and was diagnosed with fibromyalga and neuropathy. They spent one year blissfully happy in their new home only to have cancer reappear after 10 years in her head and neck. The doctors in Florida told her there was nothing more they could do to save her life. At the urging of her loving parents she and her husband they sought a second opinion back in her hometown of Pittsburgh. She is currently in treatment in Pittsburgh and battling everyday. As tough as all the treatments have been she continues to fight for more time and never gives up hope. She and Ben have had to give up on their dream life in Florida and move back to Pittsburgh. Ben has had to leave his job as a nurse and search again for work in Pittsburgh. These moves and medical expenses have been a financial burden and they have depleted their savings. Our family would be very thankful of your support and positive thoughts at this time.
