Becky's Lift Chair Fund

Donation protected

Hello everyone.

I'm really very humbled and happy that you are taking a moment to read this.

My name is Connie Billie.  I'm Becky Bowe's sister.
Many of you know her, some personally, some by keeping up with my FB feed.

Becky has a very long medical history, which I won't go into here, but if you want to know more, you can message me and I will be happy to explain everything.

Becky has been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes for the past 3 years consistantly.

Becky is 53 years old.  She has End Stage COPD, along with other serious medical issues.   She is currently breathing through a trach tube and she is on the ventilator every night and sometime during the day.
Up until 2 year ago, she maintained her own apartment with the help of nurses aides.

She is now living full time at Spring Creek Rehab in Harrisburg, Pa.  She will never be able to return home.
My brother Ed and I have tried to help her with things as much as possible, trying to make a shared room, a home.
It's not easy.  Just imagine this for yourself.  Young, alert and oriented, yet trapped.  Never going home.  Yet she continues to make the best of this horrible situation.  She has adjusted many things in her life, including her attitude.  It amazes me.

Becky has a bed and an electric wheel chair.  We are greatful for that.

She is in desperate need of a Trendelenburg Lift Chair.  Think about having to sit in an uncomfortable wheel chair all day long.  Not very inviting.  Staying in bed all day is not an option.  She is prone to pneumonia.  She must get up every day.

This is a tough task, asking for donations.  And Becky would be greatly embarrased if she knew I was doing this!  But she needs funding.  Her "income" is $40. a month stipend from the nursing home.  They attached her SS fund for her care, so she doesn't recieve that.   Medicare won't pay for any hard durable equipment because she is in the nursing home.  Catch 22.

There are so many deep needs out there, by so many people, it's hard to support everything.  I get that.

If you can find a way, I would so greatly appreciate any help.  No amount is too small.

We have found what we think is the perfect chair for her!  And I can't wait to walk into her room and see her sitting comfortably.  You don't realize the things we take for granted every day.  Be grateful for what you have.

If anyone wants to know the specifics of the chair, just message me and I will be happy to forward them to you.
Because of the nursing home guidelines, it has to have some special options which are not standard, increasing the price.

Whether or not you are able to donate, could you please do me a favor?  I can only rely on my personal network of family and friends.  I know some of them really cannot donate.  I understand.  But if you could all forward this to YOUR friends, it would be appreciated.  Maybe attach a note stating that you know this person and the situation is real.   Everything that goes around is not always reliable.  That would help.

Again, I'm so thankful that you all took the time to read this.   I'm greatful for so many things.

You never know what life is going to bring.

Sincerely,
Connie
