Hi
My name Is Deborah Pace and next month I will be 55 years old I am married to Ron Pace who I met after I moved to Austin, TX in 2001. I have two sons David the oldest and Kevin my Baby (don’t tell him I called him my Baby) who have given me six grandchildren, a perfect set 3 girls and 3 boys they are the light of my life. When I turned 50 I decided to go back to school to get my Bachelor Degree, at the time I thought nothing could have terrify me more. But last year in August I woke in the middle of the night with pains in my stomach that felt like my intestines where trying to escape my body. My husband got me to the hospital and they did test they said it was an infection but that I should get a colonoscopy because it could be cancer well at the time I did not have insurance and couldn’t afford the cost of the colonoscopy but they gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. I had a small relapse in October but after that I felt much better.
January of 2016 my employer finally started offering insurance and I found a primary care doctor by this time I had started to lose weight at first I was happy about it because I had gotten up near the two hounded pound range, but after seeing my Doctor a few time she notice that I was losing too much weight in four months I had dropped from 210lbs to 114 so we started doing test mammograms, colonoscopy, and cat scan that’s when they found the mass in my large intestine. Between the copays for the Doctor, hospital, test, the surgery and medication I wiped out my saving (what little I had) now they say that the surgery went well and they pulled out a baseball size tumor but not before the cancer had spread to my stomach so now I have to start chemo I only make $10.75 hour and can’t make that if I can’t be at work the bills keep coming in and no money is coming in to pay the bills this has me terrified. I have always been the type to take care of my own and I am not good at asking for help but I have nowhere else to turn. I just want to go back to school finish getting my degree because I want to show both my boys that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
