My brother in law, Mark, has recently endured the devastating sudden loss of his only sibling, Shane Gartshore. Shane lived in California, working his dream job for the past 9 years. He was single, aside from 2 rescue cats he adored, so arrangements need to be made by Mark and Jacky to go and get his remains, pack all of belonging up and move it all back to Canada in a timely fashion. This will likely take at least two trips to California to accomplish all of this. There are numerous expenses for these trips such as rental cars, hotels, storage, cleaning, uhauls etc.
It is a tragic and sudden loss that has left immediate financial needs that are an extra added burden on Mark and Jacky as they try to cope with this unbearable loss. It's still undetermined as to why he passed away but it appears to be natural causes.
Mark’s father is on disability and lives in Ontario so they are also hoping to be able to assist him to make it out here for Shane’s memorial.
Shane was the type of guy who would help anyone out in a second, he was a son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed. His niece and nephew, Noah & Elliot, were his most favourite people in this world. The love he had for these children was incredible and he had such a soft spot for them, always doing anything they wanted or showering them with gifts on his visits every Christmas, packing in a years worth of hugs, kisses, board games, sledding, movies and even baking while he visited! He will be profoundly missed by so many people.
"Its hard to imagine the magnitude of his loss. Every part of my being feels like its been ripped to shreds. He was my brother in every way that counts. He was all Mark had and they were extremely close. They shared a bond that only brothers can. My entire being aches for the crater that his loss created in our families lives. The though of never hearing his voice saying my name in a way only he could... When Mark and him would goof around as only brothers do... The pride in his eyes when he looked at his neice and nephew. He was their biggest champion in life. There was so much more we planning to do together and now that is gone forever. You will never be forgotten and our kids will always, ALWAYS know who you are. Love you Shane-o.". ---Jacky
So many people have asked me, Jacky and Mark how they can help and a member of their church community suggested I set up a gofundme to help even just a little bit.
I completely understand that not everyone can help financially but please, please keep this precious family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days, weeks and months.
On behalf of Jacky and her family as well as myself, I extend a sincere, heartfelt Thank you to all who give and /or continue to keep Mark and Jacky in your prayers and thoughts. Continue to send loving and encouraging messages during this difficult time, you have no idea how much the kind words help!
