Madison Rodriguez's Medical Fund

Madison "Marty" Rodriguez is the daughter of Jason (FDNY firefighter Ladder 39) and Wendy Rodriguez. Madison was born at 28weeks, on her 3rd day of life she went into respiratory arrest. Within a week she was diagnosed with Beckwith Weidemann syndrome. Beckwith Weidemann syndrome is a rare genetic disorder commonly characterized by overgrowth( Children with BWS are 600 times more likely to develop childhood cancer). They also discovered that she has multiple benign tumors on both of her kidneys. Two weeks before her 1st birthday one of the benign tumors mutated into a Wilms tumor (cancer). A year later while on preventive chemo treatment another tumor mutated. Madison has had numerous surgeries and treatment. Madison went into remission in February of 2016. She will continue to have quarterly screenings to ensure any reoccurring Tumors will not go undetected.
