My name is Lisa. I'm a 53 year old struggling like so many of us are.
Almost two years ago I ended up in the hospital for emergency surgury, Both ovaries had cysts that had gone undetected for far too long and grown very large. One had torqued out of position and was causing extreme pain. Between the ambulance ride, the ER visits, the tests, surgery and the week recovering in the hospital, the bills were... extensive. And far beyond anything I have been able to cope with. Now I'm fending off collection calls and threats of legal action.
At this point the best possible solution is to file bankruptcy. However, the attorney fees are still beyond my reach.
A good friend encouraged me to seek help through Go Fund Me, to raise the necessary legal costs, and as difficult as it is to talk openly about something that feels so much like a failure, I am asking for help. This would allow me to get out from under crushing medical debt and to get a fresh start. I hope to be able to file by the new year.
I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for any support you are able to share, to explain just how much of a difference it will make to not have this weight.
