Mustafa is an incarcerated activist and revolutionary, who is being held captive in the state of Ohio. He has a chance to come home and needs the help of the community in order to make that happen. Every day he spends in prison he is dealing with acute torture and is constantly in a life or death situation because of his political views and organizing.
Mustafa has been incarcerated on this bid since 2013 and his max date is 2030. He is seeking judicial release and needs to raise $10,000 in order to afford a lawyer.
Right now Mustafa is in long term solitary confinement and he fully expects to stay there until the end of his sentence in 2030. He described long term solitary by saying this, “It’s pure torture and over a period of time it has the ability to diminish the things inside an individual that makes him a human being. Guys begin to act like animals locked in a cage, only knowing how to communicate through loud noises, only knowing how to express themselves by throwing feces and urine and doing things that a normal human being would never do.”
This torture is retaliation for Mustafa's longstanding commitment to revolutionary organizing on the inside, which dates all the way back to the mid 2000s. Shadowproof recently published an article detailing the counterinsurgency tactics of the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and how they have been weaponized against Mustafa and other inside activists.
