Dear family, friends and coworkers of Dolores and Bob,
As most of you know, Bob has been in the hospital since May of this year with a mystery illness that has nearly claimed his life twice. It all started back in December 2009 when Bob was stricken with an unknown illness and the family was called in to say their good-byes. Miraculously, he survived and after 6 long years of rehab he was finally going to try to take his driver's licence exam. Sadly, he had a recurrence in May and is still recovering at Scarborough General Hospital. Dolores is hopeful that he will be accepted at a rehab hospital this fall.
I honestly don't know how Dolores and her family have coped with this situation. Dolores has been spending 10-12 hours at the hospital every day since May and has been unable to work.
The purpose of this message is to ask for a financial donation to help out Dolores. She is the most loyal, hard-working and proud person I know, and she would never ask anyone for a dime for herself. Don't be fooled by the brave front that she somehow puts up for visitors. Bob and Dolores' working boys and family have been helping out as much as possible, but they can only do so much.
I know that Bob's medical problems and her financial woes have placed a great deal of strain upon their family and I am concerned that this stress will impact Dolores eventually. Just as a quick example, both her car and air conditioner have not been working all summer and she does not have the funds to fix/replace them. I personally would have killed myself if I did not have air conditioning this past summer. Also, she is planning on hiring a massage therapist to work with Bob in the hospital as his muscles are so deconditioned and at risk for atrophy. This is an expense they really can't afford, but it will benefit Bob greatly and give him a chance to be able to walk again.
