Care for Kaylee
Donation protected

We are the friends and family of Kaylee Robinson. Kaylee has been very sick for a number of years now with many illness’s and complications that have been unexplainable and doctors have been unable to diagnose what was causing her illness.
On March 23, 2016 Kaylee took a terrible turn in her health with symptoms again that were unexplainable. Further testing revealed that Kaylee was most likely diagnosed with Leukemia but further testing needed to be completed. While waiting on the results from the further tests Kaylee became so sick that she was rushed to Duke University to try and help her. Kaylee was having symptoms of headache, stiff neck, jaw pain, strange rashes, hip pain, pain radiating down shoulders into elbows, wrist, hands, knees and feet, trouble breathing, nose bleeds and abdominal pain. This caused Kaylee to no longer be able to work or continue with her college courses. Finally, at Duke she saw several specialists who then diagnosed her with a type of Vasculitis known as Behçet's disease. This disease affects less than 20,000 people in United States. The cause of this disease is unknown. Behcet’s is a form of Vasculitis which causes the immune system to attack the blood vessels and organs from head to toe.
Treatment involves seeing several specialists (Rheumatologist, Gastroenterologist, Hematologist, Neurologist, Cardiologist) to treat the symptoms and with the goal of trying to prevent permanent organ/blood vessel damage, as there is no known cure for the disease. The disease is systemic and effects the entire body causing severe pain and fatigue. These treatments are a lot like cancer treatments and have caused Kaylee to lose her hair.
Here is the major problem. There are so few cases of this in the United States and fewer places that specialize in treatment of this disease. The closest location is in Cleveland Ohio and they have accepted Kaylee as a patient if she can come to that Hospital. They will have to do more testing and get Kaylee on some type of maintenance program to manage this disease since there is no cure. This can mean many trips to this Hospital and the possibility of having to stay for extended periods of time.
Kaylee and her mother have exhausted all financial means from having to travel to Duke University Hospital and specialists in Raleigh. This is where you come in. We would appreciate any donation that you could make so that they can travel to Ohio and hopefully get Kaylee treatment that she so desperately needs. We are hoping to raise $5,000 to help with travel, lodging, food, and copays. Kaylee makes her first trip to Ohio in October if she is able to get the monies necessary for the trip. We appreciate and are very grateful for any donation. If you are able to donate or not, please share the Go Fund Me post so we can reach as many people as possible. We Love You and Thank You and God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
