Hello Everyone! I am Brenda's youngest daughter, Katie. I'm going to keep this updated to alleviate my sister Jessica from needing to message multiple people.

We are trying to help my dad cover some of the medical costs and other expenses associated with my mom and his ability to care for her. The bills will be coming in soon and if they could at least not worry about that, it would be great for them, especially with their advance age.

As most of you know, she is in the ICU in Marquette due to a Severe Blood Staph Infection. She initially thought she had the flu, however; it took a turn for the worse and quickly spread throughout her body and ravaged most of her organs. Outcome/quality of life prognosis is still unknown at this time. She was vented and sedated for quite awhile and on pain medication, but has since come off/is being weaned off.

Recently she had a brain pressure monitor to ensure her brain was not swelling. She has also has had several CT Scans and MRI's to check to see if the medicine is working for the brain bleeding that was occurring. The pressure monitor has since been removed as of yesterday/today since her pressure has reduced to a level they are happy with.

She is being monitored for brain activity and will require continued to care following her stay when she does leave. They have her on a heavy dose of antibiotics and will need to continue the treatment for several weeks following her stay in the hospital.

There is also the possibility of long-term dialysis care, however; the outcome on that is still unknown to us at the time. We are not sure when she will be discharged, there has been no conversations of that as of yet. Everyday something changes, most frequently it has been her blood pressure elevating and her blood sugar elevating out of control, however; this could be due to the infection.
