Anyone who has ever visited Ambergris Caye in Belize knows what a beautfiul and special place this is. The turqoiuse water, the world class flast fishing and diving, and the lively, friendly island culture.
Although Hurricane Earl was only a Cat 1 hurricane, it still managed to do some impressive damage on Ambergris Caye, Belize. Some families and businesses sustained only minor damages, while others were nearly wiped out. The official damage reports are still coming in. Here is a good link to give you an idea of the destruction: The Scoop

Larger disasters tend to garner more support, yet often times it is the smaller, less newsworthy catastrophes that are seemingly overlooked and receive only minor support from governments and others services. However, if you are one of those who was more severely impacted by Hurricane Earl, it can be devastating as you try to rebuild your life.
This GoFundMe is for the individuals and families on Ambergris Caye who have worked to ensure that our visits and vacations are incredible. These funds will be used to help get the fishing guides, the staff, and others in the community some extra help as they work to rebuild thier boats, homes, docks and businesses.
All funds will be distributed by Ali Gentry and her family at El Pescador Lodge. Ali and the family of El Pescador Lodge are in a great position to identify the appropriate needs around the community as they are extremely connected to the culture and people of Ambergris.
All distributions will be accounted for and will be reported back if requested.
Thank you so much for taking a moment to help out many of those who have taken such great care of us and our families when we have been guests in their home.
Sincerely,
Cale VanVelkinburgh
