This account has been opened for the purpose of supporting a great cause. Albert Cruz Jr. is a 28 years old young man. During his youth he devoted himself to boxing and made his community of Canovanas, Puerto Rico very proud of all his triumphs. Albert and his wife Katherine, who have been together for 10 years, moved to the U.S. A little more than one year ago Albert had noticed that he had masses on his neck area. The doctor who examined him told him they were just balls of fat and that did not require any special treatment. Over a period of time these masses continued to grow. Albert recently decided to have the opinion of another doctor who made all the necessary testing and examinations. On August 21, 2016 he received the news that these masses were cancerous. Yesterday (September 13) received the news that the cancer is in stage 4 and has spread to their bones, a type of cancer called Lymphoma
Hodgkin. Albert will be beginning the process of chemotherapy in a few weeks. Albert and Kathy have had a great longing for a long time, this was the desire to be parents. "Chemotherapy (chemo) works by removing cells in the body that divide rapidly. Since sperm are rapidly dividing, are an easy target for the damage caused by chemotherapy. The permanent infertility may arise if all spermatogonial stem cells (immature cells in the testicles that divide to produce new sperm) are damaged to the point they can no longer produce mature sperm. " (Cancer.org) One way to preserve fertility is to freeze sperm before starting treatment. This procedure is quite expensive. His wife is the only one currently working at home. We have faith that Albert will emerge victorious from this treatment and that in the future their desire to be parents will be made. I know they will be more than grateful to receive a donation from you so this procedure can be completed. The appointment for this procedure is this Friday as treatments should start as soon as possible. In behalf of Kathy and Albert I thank you. May God multiply your donation in blessing to you and yours.
