Help to pay medical bills
Hi, I'm Brad,
I'm a filmmaker and stage director, who's worked for years without a safety net. Back in my California days, I was part of a team, and between the two of us, we usually managed to squeak by. My partner in those days, Lorenda Starfelt, died of cancer in 2011. I was her sole caregiver. One aspect of that, which I never talk about, was the fact that while I was working on her behalf, driving her to and from hospitals, arranging for every aspect of her healthcare needs, and trying to maintain as much physical comfort for her as our circumstances would allow, I was in the final stages of healing from a massive infection in my right foot. There was talk at the time of amputation, but somehow we managed to avert that.
Flash forward to last month. I finally pulled so many things together, film wise, business wise, and in all other aspects of my life. When the moving company failed to honor our agreement, for getting me settled in my new Frenchtown apartment, I had no choice but to carry most of my belongings up a large flight of steps, without assistance. I have a bad heart. This was very difficult work, but I got through it, and I got moved in.
Unfortunately, my right foot became horribly blistered, and in the past week, that blistering became infectious and my large toe on my right foot, has become gangrenous. Whether or not I am able to save the toe is almost beside the point. This infection is massive, and at the early stages presented a threat to my life.
I am in the Medical Center at Princeton, I am feeling optimistic, I will probably be able to get back to work next week, but the healing is going to be a very long process.
Anything anyone can do to help me through this financially is, and always will be deeply appreciated.
Brad
