Today, our family said goodbye to a hero, a legend... one of Saint Bernard's finest, Edward Julian Tyre Jr., "Sonny" (also known as Coach Sonny).   Our family is coming together to ask the assistance of the community to help offset funeral expenses so that we will be able to provide our father with a proper and honorable wake and funeral.  Unfortunately, our parents are young, and had not yet purchased life insurance.  So we are at a disadvantage to covering the expenses that will arise in the next few days.  It is my hope that the community my father loved so much, will take a moment to payback some of the love, sweat, and tears he so lovingly provided to our parish, the kids in this parish, and anyone who was honored to have crossed his path.  He never met a stranger and would help anyone who needed it.   If everyone took a moment to make a small donation, even if just $1.00, I know we can work together to raise the funds needed to send my father off the way he deserves.
