Noah's Heart Fund
Donation protected
My name is Christina and I am raising money for my nephew Noah. When Noah was born, he didn't get the best heart and he's had a pacemaker since he was a baby. Pacemaker batteries only last about 10 years, so last year he had it replaced. About 3 months ago Noah came down with a severe illness and ended up getting hospitalized. Noah was diagnosed with infective endocarditis, which is a bacterial infection that grows on and affects the valves of the heart. He was very ill and spent quite a bit of time in the ICU. His cardiologists and surgeons determined the source of the infection was the conduit of his pacemaker and so it needed to come out. Unfortunately, durning the surgery a blood vessel which supplies part of his heart was significantly damaged, which, in spite of attempts to repair the situation, has lead to other complications, including worsening heart failure. This means that his heart is not doing a good job of pumping blood out to the rest of his body. Noah was released from the hospital but was told that eventually he's going to need a new heart. His cardiologist did not say how urgent the matter was but he did say, in order to even get on the donor list you have to live and be within 30 mins of the transplant hospital at all times. The nearest hospitals are in Dallas and Houston. So Noah came home after being in the hospital for over a month and we were all so happy. Even if he has to take a laundy list of medications everyday, at least he's home. Things were going well until this week. Noah is back in the ICU. He's sick again due to his weak immune system, and his doctors think he's going to need a new heart sooner than previously thought. My brother-in-law is a single father raising Noah, along with my other niece and nephew. The past few months have been really rough on him and he's had to miss so much work to be by Noah's side. Noah's mom died suddenly at a very young age of fulminant hepatitis E, which is an extremely rare food borne virus, Noah was just 4 years old. Right now my brother-in-law has help from my mother-in-law but when he moves to Dallas or Houston, he won't have the support he has here in San Antonio. I am asking that you donate whatever money you can to help Noah and his family move to another city where he can get put on a transplant list and hopefully get a new heart. He's just 11 years old and a very sweet boy; it just breaks my heart that someone so young is having to go through so much. The money will be used to pay for medical expenses, moving costs, and to help his family transition into a new city. Thank you for taking the time to read Noah's story, he doesn't know I'm doing this but I know he will be so grateful for the support. Please share his story and donate what you can. Thank you.
