My name is Dawn and I created this GoFundMe for my sister and her family who recently fell upon more hard times. I am not sure why such things are constantly presented for her and Marty, they are good people. Both have raised beautiful children, cared deeply and helped many with lifes challenges, now it is their turn to receive some help and love.
Annette has been challenged with family death, others substance abuse and her childs mental challenges. Recently Marty had a motorcycle accident which by a small miracle he lived through. He has finally made it through and after 4 months is walking on his own without any assistance. They has taken all of these situations in stride and have done their best to smile through it, with a positive attitude and gratitude.
On Saturday, September 3rd another challenge occured, this one could of been fatal. Late into the evening, while Marty and Annette slept, their wood burning stove caught their home on fire. The smoke filled the little home they love so much. While their autistic son, Eddie, sit in his room with his door closed, the fire burned. Thankfully, Eddie finally smelled the smoke and opened his door. Realizing what was happening, Eddie put a shirt over his face and crawled to Marty and Annette's room to wake them up. The smoke was already to their waist, but they were able to crawl out of the house with the dogs and get to safety. While Marty grabbed the hose to water the roof (which collapsed) and try to put the fire out, Annette called 911. Thank goodness they got out! Eddie is a hero!
While so grateful they are all alive, they are now without a home. This house was a modular house on a foundation and the damage extended to the bearing beams that support and connect the two sides. This makes the house unrepairable. With no fire insurance in place and not enough savings to fund a new structure they are left with raw land. The foundation is in good shape and with the right funds they can purchase a new unit.
I am setting up this GoFundMe with all of my heart. To help these amazing people who have helped so many and loved so much. I want to give them something back, to bring hope into their lives and faith into their hearts. If I can do this for them, it will fill my heart.
So thank you to everyone who can help, $5, $10, $15 or $50,000 please give what you can.
Humbly,
Dawn
