Chancellor Strode's Brain Surgery Journey

In Sept 2021, Shorty and Heather’s son, Chance Strode, suffered a seizure while driving. In the hospital, it was discovered that Chance has an anomaly in his brain called an Arteriovenous Malformation. Left untreated, it can cause seizures, strokes, brain bleeds and sudden death. He was put on anti-seizure meds; however, two months later, he seized again and was found unconscious and suffered multiple grand mal seizures in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Throughout the last episode, Chance spent five days in ICU with a total of nine days hospitalized, experienced diminished kidney function, was let go from his job and lost his employer's health insurance.

Chance has not worked since Dec 2nd, 2021 and the medical bills, doctor visits, lab work, ect have not stopped and continue to pile up. As a result of this, Chance is dwindling his savings and has had to sell his possessions to pay his rent. Chance is a highly private person, and asking for help does not come easily, yet he knows he has come to the point that he can not possibly do this alone.

Chance has a long road to recovery ahead of him as he has been scheduled for Gamma Knife surgery in Miami on April 25th 2022. He may need several treatments, and he has been advised by his medical team his full recovery can take up to one year. These past few years have not been easy for many, but we ask if you have it in your heart and, if possible, please give what you can to help alleviate the financial burden that this has caused so he can focus solely on his recovery. If you can not financially give, please take a moment and share his story.

We will continue to post updates as he progresses.
