Daddy’s Little Girl
Hi, my name is Ann, I am three years old and I don’t know how to read or write, so my cousins, Jackie Aunty and Shiku Chachen helped me to write this letter.
On September 3, 2016, My daddy was in a motorcycle accident. The accident caused him to facture his skull, nose and jaw as well as his femur. When they took my daddy to the hospital, the doctors told my mom that he was only going to be on a life support machine for 48 hours, then take him off and see if he can breathe on his own without the machine. 48 hours later, he still couldn’t breathe and was bleeding from the brain. The doctors could not do the 12 hour surgery on his face because of the continuous bleeding, and they drilled a hole on the side of his neck to help him breathe. On September 8th, they finally were able to do a Maxillo Facial surgery and put steel plates in his right leg. Then he started to have Cerebral Spinal fluid leak.
Finally, on September 12, the spinal fluid stopped leaking and Daddy started to heal a little bit better. On September 14, my daddy finally opened his eyes and was able to respond to the doctors and was on his way to recovery. Daddy looked different on that day, but I know that his hair will grow back soon, and the scars on his head, face and leg will heal. He will get stronger and he will be able to come home.
You see, the problem with my situation is, Daddy is the only one that works in our family, Mommy does not work; she stays at home with me. Another condition is that both Daddy and Mommy are deaf and mute, so they can never hear my voice, laughter or my cries. They can never hear me call out to them or read a book to me. They can only see the laughter in my face when they look at me. They can see me when I am sad and they both make me happy and smile with hugs and kisses. Daddy or Mommy cannot call my name or sing songs to me. But, I talk to them all of the time, and I sing songs to them. Even though both of my parents are silent and disabled, they are the best parents a little girl could ever have, they take care of me with so much love. I’m not really sure how they both cannot hear or speak, but I can. I really hope that one day, I will have a brother or sister, or both, so that I have someone to talk to and play with, and they can hear me.
Please pray for our family and that Daddy will get better soon.
If you can, please help my daddy and mommy pay our hospital bills. Daddy will also have to go to therapy sessions once he leaves the hospital to regain strength in his legs. He had suffered severe injury to his brain, face and other parts of his body. He will need a lot of recovery. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ann
