THEIR STORY: Tina boarded a plane in Denver on April 8th, for what she thought would be a quick weekend trip to Ohio, to attend she and Baby Boy Boehmer's baby shower. Tina was unexpectedly admitted to OSU Medical Center on April 9th with eclampsia. When Mike got the call from the ER nurse, he quickly made arrangements with neighbors to care for Josie, and boarded the first available flight to Ohio. Baby Ben arrived on April 12th weighing 2lbs 9 oz. Although he has no acute medical problems, he will need to remain in
the NICU (Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit) for quite awhile. Physician's gave the family a "benchmark" discharge date for Ben as his original due date- June 6th. Obviously, this is not a set-in-stone date, as many factors will determine when he is ready to be discharged.
Many friends and family members have asked what they can do to help, so, this account has been created to help "The Boehmer 3" with the unexpected loss of income and expenses (emergency flights, medical costs etc) that come along with welcoming a baby two months early and 1300+ miles from home.
