My journey – Before my diagnosis of ‘Ewings Sarcoma’, my life was ‘normal’. I used to love to train – spent most of my free time in the gym. I was a plasterer and enjoyed life.
From Easter 2014, I began experiencing pains in my right side chest area. Saw doctors who suggested I had possible kidney stones. I would come home from work literally in tears through the pain. Early hours of a morning in July 2014, the pain was so severe that I later found out the tumour had broken 2 of my ribs.
After further visits to hospital appointments, they found a ‘mass’ that covered my right chest wall with the tumour protruding from my back to the size of a melon.
In October 2014, I was referred to the UCLH, MacMillan Centre. After many appointments and unpleasant tests – I was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer – ‘Ewings Sarcoma’ in my 9th rib.
My first chemo led to me being in intensive care with pneumonia and doctors did not think I would make it through the night. I did, and had 6 further rounds of intensive chemotherapy. Followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy. I then had an operation in July 2015, which involved the removal of 4 ribs, 20% of my diaphragm and right lower lobe of my right lung.
Whilst recovering from my operation, my wound opened which resulted in having another operation of 4 hours to close the wound. I was advised after this to continue with further chemotherapy. However, this was then stopped and told I was NED (no evidence of disease) found.
I was 3 months clear – and in January 2016 I had further scans and was told that another tumour was found in my right pericardial sac (by my heart). Over the next four months, I went on to do another 2 different chemo regimes – both were not working and my tumour was getting bigger. I decided to look to alternative treatments not funded by the NHS. I have been using my savings to fund alternative treatment. A recent CT scan shows a significant reduction in size of my tumour, however i am still ongoing with 24hr chemo.
So, what I am asking for is help to fund my alternative treatment, as we all know the cost for alternative treatment for cancer is very expensive. When your life is on the line, and alternative treatment is working, you can’t afford not to stop.
I have been inspired by #JadesWish team to set up this go fund page. I thank them for all there ongoing help! I just had another 10 hours of surgey on the 26 of November 2016 which they had to take more of my right lung remove tumour from lung and a tumour from round the heart noddles from my armpit was also taken they decied to take the plate out they used fro my ribs last year and use my back muscle to feel the hole it's nearly been 3 years I be fighting now if u can help in anyway I be so greatful X
