My name is Katrina, and my husband's name is Christian. Here is a summary of the journey that we are on, and the reason we are asking for help.
In December 2012, my fiancé Christian woke up one day with extreme pain in all his joints. He was in so much pain that, after a few visits to his doctor, he ended up in the hospital for a week. During that time Christian had so many tests that we lost count. He was released with no answers, still in extreme pain, and only given multiple medications to try to help him. From December 2012 to February 2013, Christian was unable to work at all. During that time, doctors were unable to determine what was wrong with him, in spite of extensive further tests. He finally returned to work in February 2013, much weaker but in less pain.
2 ½ years later, in July 2015, only days before our wedding, the pain returned. We went to see Christian's doctor immediately. The testing process was started again along with a lot of medications. He has now been off work for over a year. He still has a job but is unable to return to it yet, possibly ever. He can barely hold a glass of water or a 2L container of milk or soda. Some days it isn't as bad but most of his days are spent in constant pain. He does not wish to start on narcotics, as we are concerned about the dangers of addiction and mental impairment.
I currently work 45-50 hours a week, trying to make enough money to get by. We applied for financial assistance through various agencies but we have been denied. We had a small amount of money saved to eventually go on our Honeymoon, once Christian was feeling better. We have had to put all that money towards paying our rent. We only have one medical benefit plan through my employment to help cover paying for all the medication he is on but it still costs us a lot everytime he needs more.
We don't know where else to turn. We are hoping that some of you will feel the pain that is in our hearts every day and that you may possibly be able to help us. We would be most appreciative of your donation, whatever the amount may be.
