Sally's Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Sally (Nelson) Webster has had a hell of a year so far, and she is far from over her cancer diagnosis as we had all hoped from her updates on facebook and ongoing conversations she has been sharing with friends and family. She is my HS classmate and a good friend. As she lives in FL and her family is here in ME, I am setting this up to help her with her ongoing expenses.
To know Sally is to breathe in life. She's feisty and funny. She makes you laugh at anything and everything and is there for you whether it be by phone, email, text, or in person. She's a nurse, she's a mother of 3. She's a friend, sister, daughter, teacher, antidote for bad days, she's real and doesn't sugar coat the truth.
So let me backtrack just a bit to give you an idea on what her world has been like for the past 2 years.
About 2 years ago, she found out her husband wanted a divorce, and as sad as it was, she got thru it and went on working as a nurse and caring for her 2 kids still at home.
Shortly after the divorce in 2015, she was informed she had breast cancer.
Still being our feisty Sally, she knew she would fight and get through this. At this point she had her own medical plan she had purchased as she was no longer on her now ex husband's plan. This was an added expense to her monthly bills she had taken on.
She started with chemo late summer of 2015 and that ended this past January 2016. During the chemo treatments, a group of us from HS surprised her and sent individual pkgs to her home of scarfs to wear for when her hair fell out. She was estactic and took pics for us to see her with them on and how she loved them and was so appreciative of our caring.
In March 2016 she had her double mastectomy and at that point all was well. Did I mention she worked through alot of her treatments? And with a smile most of the time. Her drive and energy is never ending. She is there for everyone and anyone. She loves her family and friends.
Radiation started in May and ran thru til July. She was starting to grow her hair back. She was feeling great and felt she was on the upswing of this beast.
She chose to have a profalatic hysterectomy in August on the 24th due to having been tested for the gene indicating she carried the cancer gene for breast and ovarian.
We all thought this was coming close to the end for her and she would be moving onto reconstructive surgery in the coming months. We had joked that those boobs would still be standing tall and perky while the rest of us would be sagging and dragging years from now.
Within a week's time of the surgery she was having shortness of breath and went to the ER and found from a CT scan that she had neoplastic mass and fluid build up on the left lung and multiple masses on the right lung.
Biopsies will happen the week of Sept 6th.
She has been informed she will have to do another round of chemo again once the results come back. To say this is devastating is an understatement. No one saw this coming, least of all, Sally.
The medical expenses are mounting and are far from over with. There will be lost time from work, she has no vacation or disability pay from work. We don't know what other treatments she may need in addition to this or surgeries. Let's help Sally get through this.
