Caring for Carly

Carly's journey continues to trend upwards as she participates in chemo/immunotherapy/infusions, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other treatments. We celebrated over a year of success (in May/June) as we learned that the tumor continues to shrink. Continued prayers are always welcome and needed for the family, doctors, and staff at Duke. The family continues to celebrate all the positives trends Carly shows.

If you feel so inclined financial donations are always welcome and needed. The medical bills continue to come in and insurance only goes so far.

We are reaching out to ask for prayers and help as the LaFores start a new journey together. On April 12th, Carly went about her normal routine to go workout. There was no clue that her and her family's lives would soon face a major, tragic change. Before she got to work out, she suddenly lost consciousness and ended up in the hospital getting emergency brain surgery. This wife and mother of two is fighting daily to recover, but she has a long road ahead. Carly was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in her brain. This is a frightening diagnosis for anyone, especially a young and otherwise healthy/active person who is needed by her family and friends. The family is seeking out the best medical professionals to guide them in treating this devastating disease to give Carly the best possible chance of regaining as much quality of life as possible for as long as possible.

Carly is always positive, encouraging others, and makes friends everywhere she went.

She has 2 beautiful daughters and an amazing, devoted husband who are her biggest cheerleaders. She has dedicated her career to taking care of others working in the mental healthcare field as well as being a long-time volunteer at Comfort Zone Camp.

Carly is usually the first person to run toward those in need, she set the example for loving others as yourself. Now, she needs us to follow that example to help her and her family through this very difficult time.

We are reaching out to ask for your help to support this family by lifting them up in prayer and offsetting the growing costs involved with Carly's care. This will be a long journey; Carly needs her family with her to facilitate her healing. That involves lost income and costs for travel and medical care. Carly makes the world a better place, through her love of others and giving heart. We now have an opportunity to honor her example by giving to her family as they experience great need.
