You may or may not know me, I'm Dalin Dawson. My wife Nellie, and I have thought long and hard about the decision of making this account. We have tried everyother means possible to help with our situation and none have suceeded which is why we are turning to this.
Nellie and I have been married almost one year now and what we thought would be a fun, perfect, newly-wed year turned out to be complete opposite. At the beginning of this year, aside from employment struggles, I was admitted to the ER several times for various reasons and between January to May I have had to undergo 3 different surgeries. Some severe, others needed to prevent future illnesses that I have had to deal with my entire life.
We soon thought things were bound to turn around but then in June I had an unexpected accident and ended up having severe neck damage, resulting in 2 herniated discs. The Dr said he was very suprised that I was not paralyzed because of how close the discs are to my spinal cord. We went to the ER, had an MRI, have seen a Neurologist, and Inner-Ear Speciliast, a Spinal Specialist and now are working with an Orthpaedic Surgeon to undergo treatment. I am required to get Steriod Injections and begin Physical Therapy almost 4 times a week to help lessen the pressure and pain. I am not allowed to do anything that might push the disc further as it could lead to Paralysis. I haven't been able to do much more than lay in bed with pain medications due to the pain. We may have to undergo surgery if this plan of treatment isn't effective.
The reason I write all this is because, the financial burden this has caused on my wife is more than I can stand. I have not been able to do any type of physical/labor type work and the sole responsibility of our income has laid on the shoulders of my sweet wife. She has gone through several jobs in order to provide for me/us and even though she is working as hard as she can, the medical bills and life bills are still amounting to more than we can handle. We have had to move back in with family a great distance away from Nellie's job in order to help with living necessities and to also be closer to our treatment options.
I am still trying to find ways to help support my family and have felt like a failure, being unable to provide for my family due to these unexpected health problems, which I know I couldn't have prevented. I am reaching out as a husband trying to take care of his family the best I know how and can at this point.
We intend to use these funds to pay off our medical debts and to have enough money to buy the food to put on our table each day. This is a very humbling and somewhat humiliating thing for me to ask as I am not one to ask for financial help for matters as this, but I need to try my best to provide for my family.
