Walking the Appalachian trail

I'm planning to thru hike the Appalachian trail. It's been a long road to where I am currently. I've been turning around my life these past couple years. 3 years ago at this time I was nearly dead from a pulmonary embolism and couldn't walk 10 feet without struggling and now I'm comfortable walking and hiking all day.
It's hard to believe how far I've come in my journey of reclaiming my health after losing a massive amount of weight. I'm physically a new person. My cardiovascular fitness is fantastic these days. I mountain bike and road bike. I've done a handful of centuries this year alone.
I'm originally from mount desert island and I returned to my home town to hike and work. I hike daily rain or shine. I have completed every mile of trail in Acadia both ways most numerous times since my return. I also hike and rediscover abandoned trails.
My personal best hiking day this summer was 17 mountains in one day and on one of those I summited it twice to do the circuit while still hitting arguably the best known most challenging trail in the park.
I borrowed a row boat to go hike across the bay one day and paddled the 8 or so miles of ocean before hiking then doing the return trip the same day.
I've worn out 3 pairs and almost a fourth pair of shoes hiking this summer at approximately 500-600 miles a pair that is just about the distance of the trail but contained entirely in the small Acadia national park.
My motivations for my hike are self discovery and adventure and seeing more of what this country has to offer.
I have purchased and or traded for most of the gear needed for this. Still need a few other things but mostly travel expenses for getting to and from the trail and daily hiking expenses.
