Hi, my name is Markus, and I have been living in Vietnam for about 4 years. I completely changed my life — from working as a chemical plant operator/heavy machinery driver to becoming a DJ here in Vietnam. Of course, I planned all of this in advance. I saved every possible cent for 2 years and then moved to Phu Quoc to start my new life as a DJ — something that has always been my dream.
For years, things went really well, and I was proud of myself because I did it all without any support from anyone. I even successfully opened a tattoo shop, which has now become one of the most popular shops on the island.
Naturally, this used up quite a bit of my savings. Then, a few months ago, someone attacked me with a knife. I almost bled to death because the knife went very deep into my arm. On the island where I live, they were only able to save my life — and only because my neighbor immediately rushed me to the hospital on his motorbike.
Afterwards, it turned out that everything in my arm had healed incorrectly, and I needed surgery, as you can see in the pictures. This operation used up the last of my savings, but I was hopeful that I would be able to use my hand again.
However, during a follow-up check at an international hospital here, they found that while the nerve they transplanted from my leg to my arm is working (and I can now move one of the two fingers that were damaged in the attack), the nerve to my little finger and the muscle in my thumb are still not connected. This means I have very little motor control or strength in my left hand, and I need a second surgery to repair it.
Unfortunately, I can’t afford this surgery — and the longer I wait, the harder it will be for the doctors to find and reconnect the nerves. That’s why I’m asking for just enough to cover the cost of the surgery. Here in Vietnam, the costs are not as high as in many other countries.

Hi, mein Name ist Markus und ich lebe seit circa 4 Jahren in Vietnam und hab mein Leben komplett geaendert von Chemikant/ Schwere Analagen Fahrer zu DJ hier in Vietnam. Natuerlich habe ich dass ganze im voraus geplant und hab 2 Jahre lang alles was moeglich war gespart und dann bin ich hierher nach Phu Quoc gekommen um mein Leben als DJ, was einfach mein Traum ist, neu zu beginnen. Es hat auch Jahre lang gut geklappt und ich war sehr stolz auf mich weil ich keinen Support von niemanden bekommen hab und ich habe auch Erfolgreich hier ein Tattoo Shop aufgemacht der jetzt einer der beliebtesten Shops hier auf der Insel ist. All das hat natürlich einiges von meinen Ersparnissen gegessen und vor ein paar Monaten hat mich jemand mit einem Messer attackiert und ich wäre fast verblutet da das Messer sehr sehr tief in meinem Arm war. Hier auf der Insel auf der ich leb haben sie mir "nur" mein Leben gerettet und auch nur weil mich mein Nachbar mit dem Roller sofort ins Krankenhaus gefahren hat. Danach hat sich rausgestellt das in meinem Arm alles falsch zusammen gewachsen ist und ich eine Operation brauch, wie ihr in den Bildern sehen könnt. Diese OP hat meine restlichen Ersparnisse aufgebraucht und ich war zuversichtlich dass meine Hand wieder benutzbar ist. Nach einem regulären Check in einem internationalen Krankenhaus hier hat sich rausgestellt dass der Nerv den sie mir von meinem Bein in meinen Arm transplantiert haben zwar funktioniert und ich kann einen der Finger wieder bewegen von den 2 fingern die durch die Attache zerstört wurden, aber der Nerv von meinem kleinen Finger und mein Muskel von Daumen sind noch immer nicht verbunden. Das bedeutet ich hab kaum Motorik oder Kraft in der linken Hand und ich brauche eine 2te OP um meine Hand wieder zu reparieren, die ich aber nicht bezahlen kann und je länger ich warte umso schwieriger
für die Doktoren wird es diese Verbindungen wieder zu finden und zu reparieren. Deshalb frag ich nach nicht viel aber genug um die OP zu bezahlen. Hier in Vietnam sind die kosten nicht so hoch. Wer auch immer spendet hier, vielen vielen Dank. Ich habe noch nie eine GOFUNDME page aufgemacht und ich hoffe dass ich ausreichend erklärt habe was passiert ist und warum ich diesen Aufruf starte. ❤️❤️
