2nd Plant a Diplomatic "Tree" Scholarship

Tax deductible
Make a difference in students’ lives by donating to the Plant a Diplomatic “Tree” Annual Campaign! Described as “life changing” and “indispensable”, the International Student Conferences, Inc. (ISC) student-led Conferences empower and prepare the next generation of U.S.-Asia leaders. The first $6,000 donated will be matched!!

During these challenging times, many students are finding the financial and opportunity cost of joining ISC Conferences to be increasingly prohibitive, making participation difficult. This is especially the case for those with student loans or those who are entering a deeply uncertain post-graduation job market.

Your donation will help cover the full cost of three college students to participate in our 2023 Conferences: the 75th Japan-America Student Conference (JASC), the 16th Korea-America Student Conference (KASC) and the 3rd China-America Student Conference (ChASC).

Every donation matters. Please join us in sowing the seeds of diplomacy and reaching our goal.

In Honor of Kristy Murray Holch

As our tree grows, this year we will also dedicate a special branch to the memory of Kristy Murray Holch (JASC 38) and her commitment to global citizenship. Serving as ISC Board Chair for over a decade, Kristy expanded the ISC mission to sow the seeds for deeper peer-to-peer opportunities beyond Japan to include Korea and China. Unexpectedly, Kristy passed away in July. Please join us in honoring Kristy’s legacy this year and beyond by donating to ISC.

History and Background

In 1934, a group of students from Japan and America came together to “promote peace by furthering mutual understanding, friendship and trust.” That tradition remains vibrant, most recently with the help of ingenious student leaders who overcame the challenges of COVID-19 to create a virtual conference in 2020.

Now in its ninth decade, International Student Conferences’ mission resonates more than ever, and stretches beyond Japan to South Korea and China. Against a backdrop of growing nationalism, trade wars, and a global pandemic, our conferences are fostering open dialogue among students across the Pacific and sowing the seeds for future diplomatic understanding.

ISC believes in the long-term value of mutual understanding, friendship, and trust achieved through cross-cultural interchange in student-led Conferences contributing to a more peaceful world. Its main programs are: Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) founded in 1934, Korea-America Student Conference (KASC) founded in 2008, China-America Student Conference (ChASC) founded in 2020, and the US-Japan-Korea Trilateral Forum.
