Many of us will never know what it’s like to be a foster kid- being pulled away from your family, constantly changing placements and schools, new case workers at every turn, in and out of court for routine hearings, and never knowing exactly what your future has in store. Some opportunities that come up seem so far out of reach and unattainable to these disadvantaged kids, that it seems like a dream.

My husband and I are trying to make one of those dreams come true. Through mentoring with our local office, we are trying to help a child raise money for a school trip that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. For a child that has never traveled outside of the metro area, much less out of the state or country, an educational school trip to Spain is certainly a something that seemed unattainable! This child has worked hard to raise money on their own through pet sitting and various odd jobs, but it isn’t quite enough. Because this child has shown so much determination and motivation, we were inspired to help.

All donations will go directly to the cost and expenses associated with this trip- from the cost of obtaining a passport, to the tour fees, and even a suitcase.  The trip will take place in the beginning of June, so we are at the last push of making this happen! We have come so far and so many people are invested in this child.

We are so proud of the life lessons this child is learning from this experience- setting financial goals, working hard to make them happen, and realizing that there are genuinely good people in the world who are willing to help. I can't begin to put into words how positively this is changing the course of this child's life.
