**UPDATE, Sep 16** You did it! You all helped to raise $5,000 toward the renovation of Molly's bathroom so it can be wheelchair accessible. THANK YOU!!!
The campaign will remain open for the month of September. Any funds beyond the $5,000 target will go directly toward medical expenses related to Molly's care.
**UPDATE** In speaking with Molly's mother today, I learned that all funds from this campaign will go toward renovating the 1 bathroom in their house to allow for wheelchair access.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; approximately 1/4 of them will not survive the disease.
On Friday, July 22, 11 year old Molly Worner was diagnosed with a stage 4 pontine glioma which is cancerous tumor growing on in the ponds region of her brain stem. It is the most agressive form of cancer, in the worst possible spot with a grim earlthy prognosis. This brave girl is going through 6 weeks of radiation to shrink the tumor. The tumor has caused her to have left facial paralysis. The radiation has caused severe dibilitating nausea and the steroids have caused swelling of her face and trunk.
Her prognosis says that she has 12 - 18 months. Molly is amazing. She is at total peace with her diagnoses, her treatment and even the prognosis. She has peace, she has NO FEAR! Molly is the bravest little girl I have ever known.
I would like to raise money to help Molly and her family with the financial burden such a diagnosis can cause... from the daily commute to/from Penn for radiation, the cost of all the medicine and the hospital bills. As you can imagine, it adds up quickly and even the smallest amount of support will go a long way.
