Friends, 

Our friend Jean Ortiz needs our help. Her fiance, James Cochran, unexpectedly passed away in early September. Our hearts are broken for Jean and her small children, and many of us wish we could be by her side to help her through these unimaginably difficult days.  A few friends, considering a way that can support Jean and, perhaps, lighten an incredible burden that has suddenly been placed upon her, have launched this fund. 

Jean is the kind of person who would do anything for her friends -- in a minute, no questions asked. This is our opportunity to do the same for her, to use however and whenever might be best for her.
