“When life gets tough, the tough get going.” This timeless proverb may be true for some but medical hardships can be too much to overcome. With caring hearts we can all play a role in supporting Sheila through this hardship. We have an opportunity to help a very kind and good person in need.
Sheila Walsh is a devoted wife of 42 years. She is a dedicated mother of three and a loving grandmother to three. She is one of eight siblings. The one that was given the kindest heart, and a mind that has never judged another. She will take the coat off her back if you are cold. She will climb a mountain to help a friend in need. She has never turned her back on anyone. Family comes first and foremost. She has always supported those in need through their greatest hardships.
Sheila went to the doctor in late July 2016, for what she thought was a pulled muscle in her hip. Her world turned upside down when she received diagnosis of a very aggressive and fast spreading cancer. The cancer is in her lungs, adrenal gland, lymph nodes. She has been confined to bed this past month. The cancer is stage 4 and inoperable. She is living in constant pain. She struggles to walk a few steps and is taking every form of treatment available. She had a round of radiation first on her lungs and hip to shrink the mass. She is on her second round of radiation targeted on her spine. She will begin chemotherapy September 10th every three weeks. Life is tough and we all have our own challenges to face. But we don’t have to face them alone. Please do not let her do this alone.
Sheila’s husband Tim is retired and caring for her. She has been the bread winner in the family for years. All this has ended. Between the medical bills, loss of work, and this devastating battle for her life, the climb is uphill. We can all help Sheila face this difficult challenge. Her strength needs to go towards healing and fighting this disease.
