Doing It For Dan

Donation protected
In 2009, my husband, Dan, was taken to our primary care physician as he was experiancing constant headaches and blurry vision. Our primary care physician recommended an MRI where it was then determined Dan was plagued with a rare, cancerous, and very deadly, bone tumor.  Chordomas, which account for only 3%  of bone tumors,  were found at the base of his skull between the ceribellum and brain stem. A devistating blow to our friends and family; a horrifying reailty for Dan.Upon receiving the troubling news regarding Dan's MRI, the Neurosurgen recommended the results be sent to Doctor Anderson, in Texas, whom specializes in cases like Dan's. Upon receipt of the MRI, Dr. Anderson felt Proton Therepy (radiation treatment which utilizes protons to treat cancer), would not benifit Dan due to the tumors location. As a result, we were then recommended to a neurologist at Froedtert Hospital. Dr. Ahuza, the latest neurologist, resigned himeself to "keeping an eye on the tumor". While keeping visual, the tumor grew larger within the next 1.5 years. At which point, Dr. Ahuza determined there was absolutely nothing he could do either. Presently, Dan's condition is progressively worse: he's losing his speech; his vision is grossly impaired; Dan's lost an immense amount of muscle; his balance is an uphill battle; And, if that wasn't enough, he was diagnosed with dimentia, which is rampently eating away at his faculties. All of these issues make it impossible for Dan to care for himself. A tradgidy for a highly motivated, independant, self-starter, like my husband.

Three weeks ago, the week of April 16th, Dan fell 4 times THAT WEEK, where he fractored his hip. Consequently, Dan spent 5 days in the hospital, undergoing a battery of tests, X-ray's, and screenings. Upon release from the hospital, Dan was admitted to a rehab center, where he's been for the past three weeks. Unfortunately, Medicare will only cover the first 21 days of rehab, afterwhich, we are required to pay 20% of any subsequent care.

Funds are of vital importance to ensure proper care for Dan. We've depleted our savings all while I've made the trip back and forth daily from work to the hospital, without missing a day, in an effort to afford our growing medical expenses. It has reached the point where the bills have extended beyond the means of production. We are at a loss and do not know what else to do. Helping us to reach this goal helps To transport Dan to his doctors appointments; easing the strain of medical bills. I have contacted the department of aging who has a 3 - 4 week wait list. I cant fathom what i would do without help. If I couldn't care for Dan, they would eventually place him in a state run facility. This isnt something that goes away on its own, if i cannot give my husband more life at least allow me the resources to help keep him in relative comfort for as long as hes suffering.
