Volunteer Trip to South Africa

This coming January I am traveling to South Africa through a program called Reach Out Volunteers. Reach Out Volunteers is a program that brings volunteers to impoverished areas all over the world with the goal of creating long term sustainable change. With the program I have chosen I will travel to St. Lucia, in South Africa, and help to build the infrastructure for an orphanage. The other volunteers and I will spend a week working and teaching the children basic English skills. Next, we will travel to a nearby game reserve, where we will spend a week learning to track animals in the bush a doing basic park maintenance.

Reach Out Volunteers can’t ask the communities they visit to pay for food, housing, and transportation for the volunteers they bring to the service sites, which is why the trip costs money to go on. I am asking for help to finance this trip. It is very cliché to say this has always been a dream of mine, but it has been. Africa has been a place I have wanted to visit since I was a kid, and when I understood more about the poverty there, I wanted to travel there to help the people. When I found out about Reach Out Volunteers, I knew right away that this trip was something I wanted to do. I am hoping to be able to raise a part of the money I will need for this trip and would greatly appreciate any contribution you can offer.
