Tanja was admitted to Mease Countryside Hospital on August 16th for uncontrollable high blood pressure and Thyroid problems. After 4 days in the hospital, many cat scans, and a liver biopsy, Tanja was sent home to wait of the biopsy results. Coming home from the hospital, while not wanting to believe she possibly could have Cancer, she said "how come when things are finally going better at home financially, this has to happen". (She began to cry)
This was a week when her life was forever changed, she learned that she has Stage IV Breast Cancer that has spread to her bones and liver. Tanja and her family are devastated!
Tanja is currently in Moffitt Cancer Center because the cancer in her spine is causing so much pain and has fractured a vertebrae . The vertebrae is causing cord compression which can be very dangerous. Lots of testing is being done and she is hoping to have her port placed any day so that chemo and or radiation treatments can be done to get rid of the cancer in her spine. Then she will have to have a procedure by the neurologist to fix the spine so that she can try to function without so much pain. Then of course, the fight will begin with her chemo treatments to get into remission!
Tanja has worked as a Realtor and an Insurance agent for many years and now is unable to work. Her Full time job now will be to "fight this ugly disease"! She does not have a group insurance policy since she is self employed and the premiums are quite high as you can imagine. Like most of us, she and her husband both work and it will be difficult to go down to one income. There are co-payments, unpaid bills at home and lots of medical bills that will need to be paid. So we are hoping that you will help by making a donation to her fund so she can take her mind and energy off focusing on the bills that are pilling up at home and focus on getting better and fighting this cancer!
