Ruben's funeral fund

As hard as it is for me to write this, I'm going to try to get through the heartache I feel at this moment. On September 2nd my little brother Ruben passed away shortly after he came home from the hospital. He was very sick, to the point where the doctors sadly came to the conclusion that his cancer got to aggressive and curing him was no longer an option, making him go through more chemo only to prolong his life was going to be torture for him. We all agreed that Ruben would go home, and be as comfortable as he can for the remaining time he had left, surrounded by the simple things that he enjoyed in life. His room, his family and most of all his dog, who he has been longing to see again. He came home layed in bed, I read him letters that people wrote to him and about him. I prayed with him, he opened his eyes to see and receive kisses from Zuko our dog, and he was surrounded by our family's love until he took his last gasp of air. He passed peacefully in our arms, and I believe with all my heart he did so right after he got his wishes. He saw he was home, with just us and he was ready...the time came so much sooner than we thought, we thought he had weeks, but he just wanted to come home. We all lost the best part of our family, he was the rock in all of our lives. He was the baby. The good one. The guy who never asked for a single thing, ever since he was a child, he was the most selfless human being. He was insanely smart, grew up to be a straight A student, loved school and loved to learn. He had many dreams before cancer that he hoped to accomplish before his last relapse. He had a smile that everyone fell in love with, and a heart that cared for everyone he saw and everyone he knew. He loved making people laugh with his sarcastic personality (it's in our genes). He was a very private, independent, responsible guy and spent his time doing what needed to be done before he had fun. He was an amazing Son to my parents, an amazing little brother to us, and an amazing friend to everyone he got to know. Ever since he was diagnosed there wasn't a battle too hard for him to say he doesn't want to fight anymore. He spent year after year going through trials and relapses yet once he got better he would go back to continuing his dream. He spent the last few weeks of his life so sick and in so much pain yet he still wanted to walk himself to the bathroom, take his own showers, do his own things, he was so strong and that strength was so extremely admirable. He had chances to receive different wishes, but he always said "someone needs this more than I do" he always put everyone first....he is the sole definition of a good selfless person and everyone that knew him knew that. I know he will be so missed not only by our family, but by all of the lives he touched. He made a difference in a lot of lives, and will continue doing so by keeping his memory alive, and I will do my best to share his story to those in need. He gives people Hope and I know that he will be watching over us every step of the way. He passed so soon and our family didn't have many things prepared, his funeral arrangements are expensive and we ask for all the help we can get to help pay for those arrangements. Anything can help, and we appreciate any amount. Thank you to everyone that made him happy and faught with him through this long journey up until the end. I know he loved everyone and appreciated so much love and laughter he received through his happy times and through his hard times. It made him stronger and helped him survive as long as he did. We feel so blessed to have and keep those memories with us the rest of our lives...thank you all again, for reading part of how amazing my brother was and for all of your help, prayers and positive thoughts.

Love,
Estefania (his sister)
And the rest of our family
