Update from Evelyn trip to Kenya

Dear Family and Friends,
Hope this message finds you in a good health. I am very happy and excited give you an update about my journey back from Africa. I returned to Austin from my trip to Kenya last month.

My time traveling and while in Kenya was absolutely amazing. I could write many pages about all the wonderful things God did while I was there. For now, I will share some of the really important areas I feel God is telling me to share it with you. The (pictured below)

My time in East Africa, Kenya ; being in America for few years was there were no words to describe the feeling, It was overwhelming, remarkable, amazing, fabulous and humbling! After being in America for few years, it was nice to return back to Africa again see everyone faces and get to eat my favorite African foods.

My team and I have got to meet so many amazing young people leaders who are already have been doing beautiful work in their communities. The Global Youth Peace Summit experience was beautiful. Having the chance to sit with the Africans and American youth during the Summit in Kenya and listen their and visions and ideas for working together with one another in order to do something that would help bring change in the world, it was really life changing and humbling.

They are on fire for change!! Hearing them share their knowledge, and I  understood on different perspectives on life and social issue that was going on in the world today were incredible.

I am very happy that I was able to join the Amala Foundation and  to  go work with the Youth in Africa because during the Summit I have learnt growth, empower, loved and to be contented with whatever life gives me. Because of this trip, I had learnt to trust life and always focus on the positive things in life.

Grateful to the Amala foundation for giving this great opportunity it has granted young people to learn from each other's experiences and express their feelings, thoughts and ideas without the fear of being judged regardless of their background. It was a great experience for humanity. I’m so fortunate to be a part of this Movement, because it has taught me so much and opened my eyes and heart to what is truly possible in this world.

Finally, thanks each of you for all the generous love and support that you have given  me during my fundraising to go to Kenya to attend the Global Youth Peace Summit. I know that without your love and support, I would have not made it there. I am super humbled and thankful for the chance that you have given me.

Thank you so very much for your Love, prayers and support. Thank YOU for being a part of what GOD is doing in the lives of many young people in Africa and in around the world. It is amazing to see what God is doing in the lives so many youth.

With much love and a grateful heart!

EVELYN

Hello  Family and Friends,

As most of you know, I was set to travel to Kenya last December for the Amala Foundation's first ever international Global Youth Peace Summit in Kenya.  Many of you supported my efforts in getting there and being a part of this incredible experience.

Due to safety concerns, the Amala Foundation decided to push back the Summit to this October (1st-7th).  When the Summit was delayed, I refunded everyone their money.

I am asking  you because I am still hoping to attend the Summit and need your help!  With just three weeks left, I still need to raise money for my airfare and other travel costs.

If you are inspired to help me, I would be so grateful - every donation counts!

What is the Global Youth Peace Summit?

The Global Youth Peace Summit is a place for healing, growth and connection.

Many of the youth who attend the Global Youth Peace Summit have experienced war, abuse, religious persecution, child labor, gang violence, and neglect. With recognition that sustainable peace begins within, the Summit brings together 70+ youth from over 25 countries.

How do we do that?

First, delving into the heart of our individual humanity. We cultivate peace within in order to share peace without. By connecting to our humanity and to the humanity of individuals in our global village, we leave those 8 days with a deeper sense of self, love and connections to an international family. The "people over there" are no longer just faceless statistics with no names, they are my brothers and sisters who I spent 8 days in the wilderness of Texas in August every year having profound life-changing experiences with. Amazing...

Why Kenya?

Returning to Kenya for the Globe Youth Peace Summit  is  life-transformative opportunity and it's a  dream come true for me.  This is my chance to return to Africa to  share the message of authentic Hope, Love and Peace with  Youth in East Africa. I want to give back to  my  brothers and sisters there.  I am inspired to serve young people who are like me. I want to show them  that there is a way to build a world without violence.

How are YOU serving by donating?

Your financial support will help me with part of my  plane ticket, and lodging, as well as any expenses that may occur my way there.  Anything left past that will  go straight to the foundation to continue helping these Summits happen in more countries  for the youth and young children  that  need them.

Thank you again for reading this information about a work that is so special to my heart and soul. Please let me know if you have any questions. I appreciate your help and support toward my journey to Kenya.

Please  feel free to share this with your friends and family, as well. If you are unable to contribute, know that I am grateful for your presence in my life and for being able to share this work with you.

God Bless you,

Evelyn Apoko
